Children are a heritage from the LORD, offspring a reward from him. -Psalm 127 2-4
We have recieved another reward and are awaiting its arrival this Christmas.
Yes, Christmas. As in the actual day.
The kids are over the moon and discuss daily name choices. Max announced the other day, in a dreamy, far away voice,
“I hope the baby IS born on Christmas. Then we can name him Jesus.”
We assured him that was not an option.
No matter the sex or the name, though, it will be the best present ever. A reward indeed.
It may surprise you to learn that there are a number of saints whose feast days are celebrated on Christmas day. They include:
Adalsindus of Hamay
Alburga of Wilton
Anastasia of Sirmium
Eugenia of Rome
Fulk of Toulouse
Jacopone da Todi
Matthew of Albano
Michael Nakashima Saburoemon
Nera
Peter Nolasco
Romulus
And the Martyrs of Nicomedia who were burned alive in a church during a celebration of Christmas or the Epiphany in the persecution of Diocletian.
I vote for Anastasia for a girl (since this is the same Anastasia we hear in the first Eucharistic prayer), and Fulk for a boy (because he was a professional minstrel and that fits… :)). But there are a lot of great options here.
What a great blessing for your family and for the kingdom of God! God has great plans for this little one. Congrats!
