Summer just isn’t summer in these parts without a visit to Storybook Island on a scorching hot day.  I really wish I knew what does it but I have never EVER visited the park during nice weather conditions.  I like to think that it’s part of the experience . . .

Anyway, when Chrisa and Sara called and invited us to join them for a morning on the Island, we couldn’t say no.  Well, I wanted to say no after I saw what the kids planned to wear on the outing. They were a hot mess. And the get-ups? They screamed “Homeschoolers!”  Oy ve.  But seeing as the choice was between my own humility and the kids having a monster meltdown because we stayed home?  I opted to go for humility.

It was the right choice.

The kids had new friends to play with and I got to hang with my college pals.  The best of both worlds!  It really must be a magical place for it to work out the way it did . . .

But perhaps the most magical moment happened after we left the park.  Chrisa took us to lunch to Taco Bell and while my kids balked and shied, in the end they all decided that it was the best place EVER.  Nothing short of a miracle!

Thanks ladies (and little lasses!) for a wonderful morning.  Let’s do it again soon!
