having a yard sale?
We still don’t know. But last week it sure looked like we were.
The Greats wanted the garage insulated – they worry so about us being cold in the winder. In order for that to happen, we had to purge the garage. All of the contents went out onto the driveway and there it all sat for the week.
Come Friday, everyone who drove by slowed waaaay down and some even turned around for a better look.
I could see why.
Meanwhile, we remain undecided about a yard sale. It seems like a lot of work AND it makes all my issues of rejection bubble to the surface. Could we put out a “Name Your Price” sign and all the goods and call it good?
So, though we’ve cleaned up the garage and the driveway, we still don’t know – are we or aren’t we?
I say, go for it! We just had our first a couple of months ago and made a few hundred dollars. Maybe if you decide on a family “reward” to spend the money on, you will be even more motivated! But honestly – it isn’t that much work at all. I set up tables in my garage and Monica helped me price everything and put it on the tables…come Saturday morning, Greg tacked up a few signs here and there (we also listed on Craigslist), we pulled the tables onto the driveway, and presto! Easy peasy! Everything that did not sell went to the Goodwill. Or in the trash. I thought it was odd that certain things didn’t get purchased, but I didn’t take it too personally. Purging feels GOOD! And bonus – garage sale enthusiasts are pretty quirky, so if nothing else, you will come away with some good stories.
