We attend the Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help. My mom likes to make a big deal out of this because it’s a Cathedral but the truth is, it’s just our home church. Yes, it does have a lot of pews and therefore a lot of people but when you’re there, you hardly notice.
I say hardly because I must admit that things can get a little confusing during Communion. In the walking out of and away from your pew, it is easy to lose your frame of reference to where you are sitting. Especially when you are trying to herd 4 kiddos up to the front and back to your seat without anyone getting hurt/lost/upset. You can’t really be counting rows, if you know what I mean. And it’s imperative to make sure you make it back into the right pew because you don’t want to have to shuffle and rearrange while people are still going up for Communion and coming back . . . Really, it’s a big deal.
Normally I keep an eye out for our coats or the car seat to signal where I should turn in. However, the weather is warming and Ellie just graduated to a big girl seat. Now I must use my purse or some other creative sign post.
This Sunday though, I found my way back to my seat because as we neared our row I saw one small, white, sparkly shoe on the floor. Tess had left it behind and went forward for her blessing with one bare foot. She was grinning happily as she made her way back to me but I tell you she was beaming after I whispered in her ear.
“You’re just like Cinderella!” I said.
And she’s been reminding me of it ever since.
Cutie. She looks so much like Haeli did when she was little.
She is a spitfire like Haeli too!
love the picture… shoes on wrong feet, boa on dog… mischief in her eye…
