September 8th we celebrate the birthday of the Blessed Virgin Mary.  Her birth, as with all her life, points us back to Christ because her entrance into the world is “the anticipation, promise and preparation for the coming of the Messiah.” (A Year with Saints in Art)  Beautiful, right?

We had a modified extravaganza to mark the day.  We donned blue (her color), made a blue cake, and Providence provided Susan and Fr. Rob as guests for supper.  Low key, mellow and encouraging, that’s my kind of party.

Happy birthday, Mary!
