(Some may say, “I thought you did an Epiphany post already?” You’re right. I did. This is Epiphany on the old calendar. We Catholics can be like that – partying it up twice if we want. And we did want.)
Susan brought by the Epiphany blessing and some blessed chalk so we could bless the house. We had a grand time sprinkling the rooms (with holy water) and marking the door frames (with the chalk.) Jac led us in this blessing which is sure to become a regular. I really dig the marking of the doors.
Bless, O Lord God almighty, this home, that in it there may be health, purity, the strength of victory, humility, goodness and mercy, the fulfillment of Thy law, the thanksgiving to God the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit. And may this blessing remain upon this home and upon all who dwell herein. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
(The blessing on the door reads the first part of the year -20- then C M B and the second half of the year – 09. C M B can be for the Latin “May Christ Bless this home” or for the traditional names of the 3 Magi, Caspar, Melchior and Balthazar. Either way, I like it.)
