News Years Eve means good food and fun at the Wyeth’s. I think we’re always all just as excited about this party as we are about Christmas. It’s THAT fun.
In the morning, the kids and I spent our kidschool time making party hats for the festivities. Glitter and markers in abundance!! This only added to their anticipation. By the time lunch rolled around and Mama Syd made alphabet soup, they were teetering on meltdown. It was too much to take! To remedy this there was an impromptu dance party at the table before they were sent to bed for naps.

"I feel crazy so I jump in my soup!"
Jac and I spent the afternoon shopping and making delicious things to take to the par-tay. When the kids woke up, they sang and danced “We’re going to the Wyeth’s! Aren’t you so excited?” over and over again. Philip insisted that his self-designed bunny eared hat be put on at 5 and he left it on until after midnight.

Philip and his hat, his beer and his gal (Nicki. They sang together most of the night. Thanks, Nic!).
Part of the nerts group. It was loud. And a little vicious. We got our fill of cards.
Tess liked having the chance to be around other little girls and made “friends” with the daughters of a childhood friend of mine.
Max drinking a cold one just like the big boys. (Just root beer, but still . . . )
“Should old acquaintance be forgot, and never brought to mind. . .” – please, for the love of pete, let this never be brought to mind again.
Right before midnight we headed outside into a steady drizzle to bang pots and watch illegal fireworks in the driveway. They were a little loud, once they got started.
And then, five minutes later, Tess had found Chelsey’s lap and was out cold, Philip’s hat was off and we were all ready for the first sleep of the new year.
