Today while doing chores, I plugged in the ol’ ipod and played some tunes.  It’s not like we don’t have any music around here, but you would have thought Christmas had done arrived with the rejoicing that took part.  There were breakdancing moves shown off, races and twirling competitions.  All to much singing and laughter. (My favorite is when Philip sings whole heartedly. “Iiii’m not perrrrfect.  No Iiii’m not.  Iiii’m not perfect, but I’ve got what I’ve got.  I do my very best, I do my very best, I do my very best each day.  Oh Iiiii’m not perrrrfect, but I know you like me that way.”  So very Philip.)

The best part, though, was right before I captured this photo.  “Down in the Arkansas” had come on – a hillbilly song about a cow slobbering, “tying the knot with a rifle gun,” etc. etc. – and it is chock full of banjos, mandolins and fiddles.  I just happened to see Philip, with the broom, strumming his heart out.  He had one knee bent, eyes shut and a perfect smile on his face as he bobbed his head to the music.  I’m telling you, it took my breath away. I couldn’t help but giggle and tell him to stay still so I could get a picture.  At that, Max hollered for us to wait and he and Tess in a matter of seconds had their “guitars” out and were strumming, too.

Do you see a future band?  I draw the line at the Partridge family bus, f.y.i.
